To integrate with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you must set up a connection between Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. To set up the connection, you must provide the following information as a minimum:

To set up, test, and enable a connection to Microsoft Dynamics CRM

  1. In the Search box, enter Microsoft Dynamics CRM Connection Setup, and then choose the related link.

  2. In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Connection Setup window, specify the Dynamics CRM URL and the user name and password of the service account of the server.

  3. To test the connection settings, on the Home tab, in the Progress group, choose Test Connection.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV tries to establish a connection to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server.

    • If the settings are valid and a connection can be established, a message appears that states the test was successful.
    • Otherwise a message appears that states the system could not connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM and provides details of the error that occurred.
    Note
If data encryption is not enabled in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you will get a message that asks whether you want to enable it. To enable data encryption, choose the Yes button and provide the required information. Otherwise, choose the No button. You can enable data encryption later. For more information, see Manage Data Encryption.

  4. Select the Enable check box to enable the connection.

If you do not enable the connection now, the connection settings will be saved, but users will not be able to access Microsoft Dynamics CRM data from Microsoft Dynamics NAV. You can return to this window and enable the connection later.

  5. If Microsoft Dynamics CRM synchronization is not already set up, you will get a message that asks whether you want to use the default synchronization setup.

Setting up synchronization provides the capability to keep data in records that are common to Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics NAV up-to-date. If you want enable to default data synchronization, choose the Yes button; otherwise choose the No button.

We recommend that you set up synchronization now. However, you can always set up the connection to use the default synchronization settings later. For more information, see How to: Enable Default Dynamics CRM Synchronization Setup.

  6. The connection to Microsoft Dynamics CRM is now configured and Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration is enabled. You can begin to work Microsoft Dynamics CRM data in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. There are several advanced settings which you can view and set to enhance security and enable Microsoft Dynamics CRM sales order processing.

The following table describes the settings. To change a setting, choose the value.

    Field Description

    Active Scheduled Synchronization Jobs

Specifies how many of the default integration synchronization job queue entries are in the Ready state.

The default integration synchronization job queue entries synchronize data between Microsoft Dynamics NAV records and Microsoft Dynamics CRM records, such as customers and accounts. If there is no job queue started, the integration synchronization job queue entries cannot run.

For more information, see Scheduled Synchronization Using the Synchronization Job Queue Entries.

    Dynamics NAV Integration Solution Imported

Specifies whether the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Integration Solution is installed and configured in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. You cannot change this setting. For more information, see Install the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Integration Solution.

    Dynamics NAV URL

Specifies the URL of Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client. This enables users in Microsoft Dynamics CRM to open corresponding records in Microsoft Dynamics NAV from records in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, such as an account or product. The Microsoft Dynamics NAV records open in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client. Set this field to the URL of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client instance to use.

To reset the field to the default URL for the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client, on the Action tab, choose Reset Web Client URL.

This field is only relevant if the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Integration Solution is installed in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

    Version

Specifies the version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM. For more information about the supported versions, see Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 System Requirements.

Dynamics CRM Connection User is Integration User

Specifies the Microsoft Dynamics CRM user account that is used for the connection from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Dynamics CRM to be an integration user. When set to Yes, the integration user property of the connection user account is set and the user becomes a non-interactive user in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. This setting does not assign the Integration User role to the connection user.

    Sales Order Integration is Enabled

Specifies whether sales order processing integration is enabled in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. This enables Microsoft Dynamics CRM users to submit sales orders, which can then be viewed and imported in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Dynamics NAV Users Must Map to Dynamics CRM Users

Specifies that Microsoft Dynamics NAV user accounts must have a matching user accounts in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, as determined by the email addresses of the accounts. The Office 365 Authentication Email of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV user must be the same as the Primary Email of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM user.

If you set the value to Yes, Microsoft Dynamics NAV users who do not have a matching Microsoft Dynamics CRM user account will not have Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration capabilities in the user interface. Access to Microsoft Dynamics CRM data directly from Microsoft Dynamics NAV is performed on behalf of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM user account.

If you set the value to No, all Microsoft Dynamics NAV users will have Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration capabilities in the user interface. Access to Microsoft Dynamics CRM data is performed on behalf of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM connection user.

  7. Choose the OK button when done.

After you set up the connection to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you can monitor its status. For more information, see How to: View the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Connection Status.

To disable a connection to Microsoft Dynamics CRM

  1. In the Search box, enter Microsoft Dynamics CRM Connection Setup, and then choose the related link.

  2. In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Connection Setup window, clear the Enabled check box.

Users will not be able to access Microsoft Dynamics CRM data from Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
